-alas, a French victory - but, as in a time-honoured tradition, Barbarians scores are never published, we can only say the winning margin was 2 points and the result was in doubt until the final whistle.

An outstandingly good match and one which underlines the value of teamwork.

The French team, which plays regularly in the Paris Business League, scored three tries, converting two, and also kicked a penalty for a 22-0 lead after 15 minutes, extending this to 29-3 before half time.

The EAARFC 1st XV, which plays ony this match and, due to the London Undergorund disruption, completed only one training session, 'won' the rest of the match but was left with too much to do to secure a win.
